Sailing

The sailing at Hoylake is dominated by our beloved Opera Class, racing since 1902, which we moor off Meols and race at weekends through the Summer months when the tides allow, typically from late April to the end of September/early October. As well as sailing at home, the Operas may also travel to local Kindred Clubs Regattas as well as the Menai Strait Regattas in Anglesey. We also have occasional cruises such as the Commodore’s Cruise to the West Hoyle Bank and other trips such as biennial trips to Blundellsands Sailing Club.

We also try to hold some Dinghy racing before and after the main sailing season, and we take a team of dinghy sailors to compete in our Club Enterprise at the annual West Lancashire Yacht Club 24 Hour Race in September.

We also have a cruiser fleet, with storage facilities available at the Club (for members only), as well as some owners with power boats/RIBs. We also have our own safety RIB as well as our flagship Grace IV.
